Basketball enthusiasts around the world were really stunned after watching a video that features Yao Ming helping a young Chinese boy who suffers from brain tumor. In fact, their hearts were really touched seeing how dedicated their favorite player was in teaching the boy play basketball during a charitable event.
The 2-minute video shows eight-year-old boy Xuan Xuan who was identified last year as having a certain type of brain tumor called medulloblastoma. This disease is very common among children yet rare to adults. Xuan continually undergoes chemical therapy since then in order to gradually get rid of the disease. On the other hand, despite being diagnosed with such disease, his passion for basketball never fades away. He even wished to play in a real game.
To make Xuan’s dream a reality, a charitable activity had been organized by Miao Jianmin with Yao Ming as the prime guest. According to Miao, the event would really boost the boy’s confidence in fighting against the disease. Moreover, this is also an infrequent opportunity to not just meet but also play with the Chinese basketball star player, Yao Ming.
Aside from playing with Xuan, Yao Ming also gave a book and jersey to the boy as presents. He also taught him how to do his phenomenal slam dunk. The China’s basketball star hopes that Xuan will soon recover from the disease.
